While studying at the University of South Carolina Mr. Simmons served as a staff writer at The Gamecock and worked in the Development Office's call center obtaining donations so USC achieve preeminence by connecting donor passions with the goals and aspirations of the University of South Carolina. He also spent time as a Strategy Consultant with Daufuskie Island Foundation, a non-profit that provides native Daufuskie Islanders with opportunities for economic development, and the preservation of its Gullah culture, land, and other natural resources indigenous to Daufuskie Island. Among his civic activities, Mr. Simmons has volunteered with numerous charitable and civic organizations including Hospice Community Thrift and will continue to serve as an advisor to not-for-profit foundations.

Mr. Simmons studied business management with a concentration in finance at the University of South Carolina.
